Pastor
Jeremy Lantz
Hometown:
Lansing, MI
Family:
I am married to Caitlin, the love of my life. We have two sons,
Joshua and Caleb, who are going to change the world.
Education:
In 2001 I graduated from Hillsdale College with Bachelor's degree
and a double major in religion and business administration marketing. Some
people don't understand why I'd put those majors together, but God certainly
does. In 2010 I completed the Iris Ministry Harvest School of Missions in
Mozambique.
Title:
Pastor of Youth and Outreach
Job Description:
I learn from people every day. My primary roles are in K-12 youth
and outreach ministries through Cross Culture Youth Ministry and Fire Up for
Life, but I also get the privilege of being involved in foreign missions,
technology, and other things as needed.
Unique Experiences:
Living for a summer in Africa with my family was amazing. From
baobab trees and weird insects to orphans and miraculous salvations and healings
we had quite an adventure. One of my favorite things was watching my son Joshua
connect despite the language barrier and learn to really love his African
friends.
Travels:
I've been on mission trips to Michigan, Florida, Uganda, Mexico,
Costa Rica, Mozambique and Madagascar. On leisure I have spent time in Scotland, England, Mexico, various
parts of the United States and at an isolated fishing camp in Ontario, Canada.
I've still never seen an elephant fly, but I hope to get to the Grand Canyon
some day.
Favorite Ice Cream:
Ryba's Mackinaw Island Fudge in a waffle cone on Mackinaw
Island in the sun.
Spiritual Story:
I was raised in a solid Christian home. One of my memories is
of laying on the living room floor as a young child listening to my dad read the
story of David and Goliath to me. By the age of ten I had a clear personal
faith; I didn't just believe in God because my family did. I was baptized in
water and in the Holy Spirit at the age of 12. My life has been an exciting
journey as I have grown in my relationship with God and experienced all the ups
and downs of the maturing process. I'm eager to grow more and want to develop a
deeper relationship with God today than I had yesterday, but sometimes it's hard
to pursue Him like that. I thank Him for His grace and love. There is nothing in
life more worthwhile than knowing God and serving Him completely.
Favorite TV Show:
Ant races.
Favorite Bible Passage:
Jeremiah 20:7-13
Favorite Part of My Position:
I love seeing people come to have and build a
personal relationship with God. It's wonderful to be involved with people long
enough to see positive and significant growth and change in their life.
Biggest Pet Peeve:
Biting what you think is a chocolate chip cookie only to find
out it's raisin. Raisin cookies are great, but it's just a short of shock when
you find out something is not what you think it is.
